Zanette Kanani - Water Instructor
“I was born with a
decongenital right hip. Unfortunately, my doctors did not catch my
condition, which is usually diagnosed in infancy, until I was six.
Because of this delay, my condition became much more serious and the
condition much more difficult to correct. A few doctors wanted to fuse my
hip, but my mother refused and I am forever grateful for her choice.
Eight surgeries later I had an almost normal hip– I could not run long
distances and had a slight limp, but I was able to be active. This was
all until a little over a year ago when my hip started to deteriorate.
Up until last June I was active in the water and was teaching three
mid to high impact later exercise classes day, three days a week. I also
lifted weights and biked at the gym a few days a week. One day while
teaching one of my classes my hip began to ache severely. The pain did
not go away as usual and I was forced by my severe pain to restrict my
activities. I returned to my doctors and discovered that I was in need of
surgery to reduce the pain, but because of my age, 22 years old, I had to
wait.
Distraught by the pain and the limitation of my activity, I sought out
an exercise that I could do without pain and that is how I stumbled upon
Body Evolutions Studio and pilates. Through my work with Body Evolutions
Studio I have learned how to strengthen other muscles in my body to help
my weaker hip and back. We have also been working on strengthening the
muscles of my hip so when I have surgery this December, I will be able to
recover faster. In addition, I have learned more about my body and how it
works then in any other exercise program I have been in.
I still have some pain and a slight limp, but I am now able to
return to teaching water exercise and live a semi-normal life. Without
Body Evolutions Studio and the caring instructors, I have no doubt that my
mobility would be hindered even greater. My body and my mentality have
significantly improved since I started working out at Body Evolutions
Studio. Thank you.”
