private
training
(by appointment)
Without a doubt, the most
effective way to begin exploring and understanding
GYROTONIC® and
PILATES
movement
systems is
one-on-one private sessions. Private lessons are the ideal
place to begin for anyone with injuries, health issues or specific training
goals.
In the private session
there is
one student with one instructor for approximately 55 minutes. The student
and instructor will utilize any combination of Apparatus (i.e. Cadillac,
Reformer, Tower, Wunda Chair, etc.) as well as Pilates or Gyrotonic®
Mat work.
In one-on-one instruction the
instructor focuses on the specific needs of one client, while providing
individualized instruction and encouragement.
Individualized instruction maximizes your understanding of the many concepts
and movements particular to these systems and how to apply them toy your
body.
Private training includes
supervised instruction in matwork, breathing techniques and exercise on the
GYROTONIC® and
PILATES
fitness equipment. The lessons may also also include the use of
various props (foam roller,
rotating disks, balance boards, Stability Balls, therabands etc.) to facilitate
a better understanding of
stretching techniques and core-strengthening.
The 10 Private Sessions series is the best way to become familiar with
Pilates movement and vocabulary. This series is recommended to all first
time students to our center.

initial consultation
(by appointment)

The initial
consultation is designed to allow the instructor time to gather
information regarding your physical condition (flexibility,
limitations, posture, alignment, etc) in order to help design a
fitness program suited to your needs and goals. This time
also better prepares the student to make a more informed decision
regarding program choice (group vs. private, Pilates vs.
Gyrotonic).
During the
consultation we will:
|
|
|
 |
Review your fitness and medical history |
 |
Discuss and set short and long term fitness goals |
 |
Postural and alignment analysis
and, strength and flexibility assessment. |
 |
Introduction to the fundamentals of body conditioning in mat work,
alignment, breathing techniques |
 |
If you are involved in dance or sports your workout is designed to
compliment and enhance your performance in these activities. |
 |
Introduction to exercises on either the Pilates or Gyrotonic®
apparatus |
 |
You will have an opportunity to decide which package is best for you, or
if you wish to pay for sessions individually. |
semi private training
(by appointment)
Semi
Private Training is the next natural evolution for the student.
Work out with
a friend, a partner or we can help to find you a partner with
similar strengths and limitations. You can also get on the list for one of our already established
semi private personal training groups.
In this
setting there are 2-3 students with one trainer and supervision
is split among the group. The lesson is approximate 55
minutes. You will utilize any combination of Apparatus
(i.e. Reformer, Cadillac, Wunda Chair, etc.)
Each student will work on his
or her own personally designed program and learns to
operate the equipment without one-on-one guidance, but still
enjoys instruction in an intimate setting. Student
programs are regularly evaluated, to insure that each student
continues to advance their technique while becoming more
confident and independent.

concept allows for the best price structure with professionally
qualified instructors in addition to a plenty of equipment.
As you progress and
develop more body awareness, the exercises become more
familiar. You then begin to make the exercises your own, and
further understand how you can enhance your workout with the
basic principles on which Pilates is based.
Open Studio is NOT a "group class or a substitute for
private instruction", but a chance for participants to work,
with supervision, at their own pace on the workout program
that has been developed for them by their private session
instructor.
Students utilize the Pilates equipment in a small group
setting (maximum 6 participants). A certified instructor is
available to assist clients, answer questions, and correct
placement & technique. Clients have an hour to complete
their workouts, allowing time for Reformer, mat work &
supplemental equipment. Participants are encouraged to
